Pinkberry Does Breakfast!

Remember when you were a kid and you asked your Mom if you could have ice cream for breakfast?  The answer was always no! Well now you’re an adult, and you probably still crave dessert for breakfast, and NOW you can have it…sort of. Pinkberry is launching a new line of breakfast Powerbowls. Not exactly ice cream for breakfast, but just as delicious!

Pinkberry is offering 4 new Powerbowls that are meant for breakfast but can really be eaten any time of day. And they certainly make grabbing a quick healthy breakfast on-the-go that much easier. I recently tried their Acai bowl and I have to say I was quite impressed. When I went vegan back in January, I became obsessed with Acai bowls. They are perfect for breakfast, lunch, dinner, really anytime of the day or night. They are loaded with antioxidants and have a good balance of healthy fats, protein and fiber. AND they are delicious! They are the perfect blend of tart and sweet with the texture of a sorbet or a super thick smoothie, so you feel like you are having a treat while not overindulging.

To be honest, when I agreed to try one of the Pinkberry Powerbowls, I was a little skeptical. Could a frozen yogurt shop really make a tasty, healthy, nutritious breakfast? The answer is yes! I’ve had a lot of Acai bowls at various spots around Boston and this one certainly stacked up. The portion size is quite large and they let you get as many toppings as you like. I decided to stay healthy and went with fresh strawberries, blueberries and mango with a sprinkle of shredded coconut and honey almond granola. They definitely gave some health food places in the city a run for their money. Disclaimer: The picture doesn’t really do it justice. I brought it home to eat it and the top melted a little, but I can assure you that underneath that top melty layer was a perfectly thick acai bowl!

Sometimes mornings are tough, especially when you get up early to work out, so I’m glad to know that I have a place to stop in for a quick and healthy breakfast on the go. I’m looking forward to trying their greek yogurt, Steel-Cut Oatmeal and Quinoa bowls.
