Ode to sweetgreen

Now that we are all slowly coming out of our Thanksgiving food coma, can we talk about sweetgreen?  I’ve never been a huge salad eater. A lot of salad dressings give me headaches, and eating a bowl of lettuce with no dressing is about as appetizing as eating a bowl of grass. Enter sweetgreen. My first visit was about 6 months ago, when the hubs and I were looking for a quick, healthy bite to eat in Copley. For the first time EVER there was no line so I decided to give it a go. I think I got the avocobbo salad (no egg, no dressing). It wasn’t mind blowing or anything, but the way they mix it up sort of spread the avocado all throughout making it seem like it had dressing. It was better than most salads I’d eaten, but I wasn’t ready to jump on the crazy train of sweetgreen groupies.

Fast forward to the beginning of October, we decided to do sweetgreen for dinner. It had been a particularly busy week and I just didn’t feel like cooking, but wanted something other than pizza or sandwiches. I went on their website to see what I wanted and they had just put out their new fall menu. One of the new items, the Roasted Turkey and Fall Vegetables salad, had roasted brussels sprouts and figured Id give it a go. I’m mildly obsessed with brussels sprouts, so much so, that whenever I see them on a menu anywhere I get them, but I digress. That evening was my eureka moment! I don’t think I’ve ever had a more delicious salad in my life. I’m talking so good that I would give up French fries (my other obsession) just to eat this salad everyday!! It’s a mix of organic mesclun, roasted turkey, roasted brussels sprouts, roasted sweet potatoes,  and cranberry vinaigrette. DELICIOUS!! It has literally changed my life!

I’m not going to lie, the hubs was traveling last week for work, and I went to sweetgreen 3 times. I seriously can NOT stop eating this salad!! My current fear is the day they switch to their winter menu and the brussels sprouts go bye bye. Luckily they have other options I want to try, but until the brussels sprouts are gone, I will continue eating the roasted turkey and fall vegetable salad!!

Seriously people I don’t care if you think you don’t like Brussels sprouts, you NEED to try this salad. It will change your life! (PS I order it with extra brussels sprouts, very light on the dressing and added goat cheese)
